Did you know that this is an Alberta Provincial law Regulation?

The following items are from the Alberta Boilers' Safety Association [ABSA] www.absa.ca

1) A building is considered "occupied" if a person is present in the building for more than one (1) hour.

2) The intent of the two checks a day, a minimum of seven (7) hours apart, pertains to the situation where a building will be occupied over this time frame.  We are prepared to allow one (1) check per day to be done on weekends and holidays under the following conditions:

a) The check is done immediately before the occupancy period commences.
b) The occupancy period does not extend beyond seven (7) hours in duration.

3) If a heating plant is required to be under general supervision, the Power Engineer in charge of the plant:

e) May provide supervision to no more than 2 heating plants unless authorized to do so by the Administrator [of ABSA].
